We had booked a gorilla trek today on the off chance that we didn’t see any yesterday. We obviously had not done enough research prior to making the second (and expensive) booking. After making the non-refundable bookings we later discovered that, depending on the source, there is a 95% chance of seeing the gorillas (not good enough so the booking was warranted) or, that in 40 some years they had never had a group not see gorillas (perhaps we could have saved the money).
As it turns out, having the trackers go out
early to locate the gorillas almost guarantees that each group of tourist will get
to see these fine creatures. Although another couple that was on the long hike - 6 1/2 hours - said their guide told them part way through the hike that they had a 70% chance of seeing the gorillas.
So, since we had a very good visit with the
gorillas yesterday, and as that trek totally exhausted us we decided to skip
today’s trek. Our guide, Francis, was
quite disappointed with us.
After lunch Mary had a nice full body massage
and a foot massage. Much needed after
yesterday’s trek.
The late afternoon was spent culling pictures
and the evening was spent packing. We
will be off again tomorrow.
Chameleon Hill Lodge is beautifully situated over looking the lake and is also a beautiful lodge.
All of the buildings in this resort are vibrantly colored. Not a safari beige or tan to be found. The main lodge.
The grounds were beautiful.

The staff surprised is with an anniversary welcome (it wasn't our anniversary but oh well).
