Tourism is one of the mainstays of the Ugandan economy and it has taken a real hit during the pandemic. But we are doing our best to help them out. They indicated that business is gradually picking up but it is still slow. Our travel agent found us a pretty outstanding lodge out here in the middle of nowhere.
Papaya Lake Lodge overlooked a beautiful crater lake.
The main building contains a lounge, the dining room (the food was outstanding) and a massive deck overlooking the lake.
The vanity off the lounge was an old bicycle...how creative.
They only had 9 rooms at the lodge. The rooms are a hike down the side of the hill…down lots of stairs. But the views from our balcony are great…
and the room is large and comfortable.
Up the hill and across a bridge over the road is the swimming pool area. They have few people staying here so the pool was covered. Some of the staff was taking a break up here and offered to take off the pool cover for me but since I didn't plan to take a swim I declined. That would been a lot of work for a photo.
Views from there are great and the pool area itself was lovely.
